In 2018, Toyota is set to launch an all-new compact rear-wheel drive coupé.
The successor to the MR2 will get a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine delivering just 135 hp mated to a manual or, perhaps, automatic transmission.
Interesting to know is that Toyota plan to develop the new model without any outside help. The sports car will weigh around 1,000 kg and its size will be close to that of a Mazda MX-5. The first prototype has already been built so there are not so many things left to do — brush it up, test it, and churn it out.
