The British developed microturbine

Microturbine «ultra-low» to increase the cruising range of electric cars.
The British company Delta Motorsport has developed mikroturbogenerator capable of «ultra-low» to increase the supply of electric cars running to recharge the batteries while driving. This novelty is 40% smaller and 50% lighter than reciprocating counterparts.
According to Autocar, a system called MiTRE (micro turbine range extender) is designed in two versions — 23 and 47 hp
The first working prototype is tested on an experimental electric car E4 Coupe.
In the future, the developers intend due to the increased radiator to increase thermal efficiency from 30 to 35%, which «put a power plant on a par with high-tech racing engines.»
The technology is already in demand and attracted the attention of Morgan companies (electric car EV3) and of Ariel (Ariel Atom sports car of the next generation is likely to be a hybrid).

It only remains to add that MiTRE project is partly financed by the British authorities (investment accounted for 3.1 million pounds).
