Nico Rosberg has been inspired by Germany's World Cup win so much that he decided to participate in German Grand Prix wearing a special tribute helmet. No one expected that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) would ban him from doing that.
The helmet had an image of the World Cup, which is a registered trademark. It cannot be used without FIFA’s authorisation. Nico Rosberg published photos of the new helmet design in Facebook and Twitter, where he was actually caught in the act of copyright violation.
Helmet design has been revised. It still uses the same black and gold colour scheme. World Cup was replaced by one of four stars for each of Germany’s World Cup wins drawn against the background of the German flag. Meanwhile, Mercedes AMG team have adorned their motorhome to celebrate the victory scored by their fellow countrymen.
Rosberg wasn’t upset about the helmet, as he doesn’t have any time for that. He has just got married and is doing all right in Formula 1 — he is 4 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the overall standings.
