Caterham will not produce the Superlight R500 model any longer. The last 174th car will be sold in Peru.
This year there are lots of rumors about Caterham’s possible closure and selling. As well the present notice is not very happy — Superlight R500 was the fastest sportcar produced by Caterham since 2008.
It had 2-litered Ford engine with 267hp of power. It was equipped with sequential gearbox, and the first 100kmh this lightweight 506 kg bullet reached in 2.88 seconds. But on the other hand last year the new R620 model was presented with 314 hp which reached 100 kmh in 2.8 seconds, so maybe the product line is reaming old models and preparing for the new ones?
