In April FIA approved an application for participation in Formula 1 filed by the new American team Haas Racing. However, its debut was delayed till 2016. Big changes are coming up, as it will be the first American team in Formula 1 since 1976. The only obstacle is that the team would need more time to build a race car than expected. As reported by Auto Motor und Sport, team owner Gene Haas is going to start recruiting as soon as there is some certainty regarding the engine supplier.
Right now everything is in the talking stage. But during the recent “500 miles of Indianapolis” race Haas made an interesting comment that “the contract with Ferrari has not been signed yet, but we are close to it”. No official statement has been made so far. As soon as they solve this question, they will be able to start building the team and, of course, the race car. It is already known that chassis will be developed by Dallara, which builds race cars for several racing “formula” series, like IndyCar, for instance.
It looks like we should be expecting surprises in the Formula 1 standings soon, but meanwhile, there are still 10 teams taking part in the World Championship.
