The race held on the American track Barber Motorsport Park (Alabama, USA) began under the pouring rain. Mikhail Aleshin started from the 11th position, won back four places, and continued successful attacks. However, an unexpected contact with the car of the French ex-Formula 1 driver Sébastien Bourdais changed all plans of the Russian pilot and knocked him out of the race.

“Bourdais just spun my car from behind in one of the turns”, said Mikhail Aleshin. “It’s really sad to realise that I had just overtook Marco Andretti by that time who came second eventually. The podium was really close”.

After a little while, Mikhail was able to return to the track and continued the race. However, being two laps behind the rest of the peloton did not even leave any chances for the Russian driver to score points. The penalty given to the French driver, who was responsible for the incident, have not improved the situation for Mikhail. As a result, Mikhail was the last to cross the finish line.

The next IndyCar series race will be held on May 10 on the track in Indianapolis.
