McLaren started building a track-bound version of the 650S supercar. The current “regular” 650S model is tuned to produce 650 hp and 678 Nm of torque, it sprints to 100 km/h in 3 seconds and its top speed is 333 km/h.

According to Auto Express which refers to chief development driver of the British marque Chris Goodwin, 12% of McLaren’s customers use their cars for track runs. It means it’s time to create a special edition as the full potential of the 650S has not been unlocked so far.

There is no word about its technical specifications yet. Naturally, the coupé will be lighter than the current version which weighs 1,330 kg and will feature additional active aerodynamics. The engineers from McLaren will have to uprate the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. However, it is still unknown how much more powerful it is going to be.

As reported by livecars.ru, the track version of the supercar will cost around £220,000 (which is £25,000 more expensive than the “standard” version).
