The Russian taxes are cruel and pitiless. The Cadillac SRX crossover will be delivered to Russia fitted with a 249-hp engine instead of the 272-hp one. Cadillac claims it would not affect the quality of the six-cylinder 3-litre engine and it would still deliver the same torque of 301 Nm. As a result, the company would save the money of its customers as the owners of the cars with the 272-hp car would have to pay 40,000 RUB (approx. €825) of transport tax annually. While the tax for the 249-hp version would be twice as little.
Note that the price of the crossover starts at 1,979,000 RUB (approx. €40,850) for the model with “junior” engine and at 2,490,000 RUB (approx. €51,400) for the modification fitted with the 3.6-litre V6 engine. So that’s it for the Cadillac’s good intentions as they are not planning to make the 318-hp version less powerful.
