The F-Type Programme Director Russ Varney announced the idea of producing a track version of the F-Type coupé. It will be called the Club Sport. According to motoring.com, the Club Sport will be 200 kg lighter than the coupé which weighs 1,465 kg. The new sports version is due to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds. It will have a more aggressive body and stripped out cabin featuring carbon fibre seats and body panels. However, Russ Varney also noted that they didn’t want to go too far and make a car similar to the Lotus Elise.
A decision regarding engine choice has not been made yet. They might choose a 5-litre V8 delivering 500 hp. A 380-hp V6 is also possible. The model might be equipped with carbon ceramic brakes. Varney dropped a hint that the question of production depends upon demand among potential customers but he seems to have doubts in it.
