The chiefs at Daimler auto group are considering merging two companies. Right now the German company owns a 5% share. But it all might change drastically. It is known that the British supercar manufacturer does not belong to any corporation, although it used to be part of Ford auto group. As reported by auto.vesti.ru with the reference to Autocar web site, Daimler's Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche gives rather direct hints that he would like to change the status quo. “This is a fantastic brand, and we are willing to support its further development”, said Dieter Zetsche in his interview to the British digital edition.
Right now the relations between two brands have a rather creative touch. AMG, the German sports division, works on developing an eight-cylinder engine for the Aston Martin Vantage. The current partnership on building the engine will be profitable for both parties involved. AMG works on customisation of the 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which is also going to be used in the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Moreover, it’s possible we will be able to see the first crossover based on that platform quite soon.
It’s unknown what comes next, although the German company has already become the owner of a 5% share. Whether it's a lot or not we couldn't say, although it has definitely increased the appetite of the Germans.
