Maserati suspended production of Levante, its first crossover, which is now expected to launch in 2015. According to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne, the Fiat factory is actually ready to launch production of the first SUV in the history of Maserati.
Most likely Levante will come in a choice of three trim levels — 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 delivering 410 hp; 530-hp twin-turbocharged V8; and a 3-litre turbodiesel VM Motori V6 producing 275 hp and 600 Nm of torque. The standard version of Levante will be featuring all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Rather encouraging is the news that the company plans to produce 50,000 units next year with Maserati hoping that at least half of them will be Levantes. So there is not much time left to wait.
