All-new “Tula Tokarev*”

Autocar got hold of what they described as the first official design sketches of the next generation of Audi TT. We will be able to see the work of the German engineers with our own eyes in March at the Geneva Motor Show. So what’s new? It now has the upgraded head- and tail-lights, modified radiator grille. The front part of the new TT will resemble the concept crossover Audi Allroad Shooting Brake unveiled by the Germans in January at the Detroit Auto Show. However, the general silhouette and glass line of the car will remain the same.

Autocar got hold of what they described as the first official design sketches of the next generation of Audi TT. We will be able to see the work of the German engineers with our own eyes in March at the Geneva Motor Show.

So what’s new? It now has the upgraded head- and tail-lights, modified radiator grille. The front part of the new TT will resemble the concept crossover Audi Allroad Shooting Brake unveiled by the Germans in January at the Detroit Auto Show. However, the general silhouette and glass line of the car will remain the same.

According to Audi’s announced and partially demonstrated plans, the coupé will now lack the traditional dashboard with analogue gauge which will be replaced by the 12-inch TFT display.

The new TT will be based on the VW MQB chassis which is also the base of the seventh-generation VW Golf, Audi A3 and Škoda Octavia. The customers will be able to choose between standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. The engines will be available for any taste and budget. Two-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engines delivering 180 and 220 hp; or 280- and 385-hp motors for the “loaded” S and RS versions correspondingly.

The new model goes on sale this year.
