According to yet unverified but very plausible information, Porsche has suspended delivery of the recently announced most “loaded” version of Porsche 911 GT3. And the reason for that is a series of the sports car’s self-immolations happened in Europe. At least one car was entirely destroyed as a result of an incident.
According to speculations coming from several Internet sources, the Porsche 911 GT3 of the latest generation had suffered a few cases of spontaneous combustion in the engine compartment over the last few weeks. The most serious incident happened in Switzerland. According to the sports car’s owner, he heard some abnormal noises coming from the engine compartment, stopped the car and stepped out to find a fuel leak and smoke coming out of the car. The only thing left was to watch this engineer's piece of work burn. The sports car burst into fire and even the fire brigade was not able to save it. The incident happened in St.Gallen, a canton in Switzerland. Police reports that the car was declared a total loss in the amount of 200,000 CHF (about 8million RUB).
911 GT3 were noticed to set on fire in Italy as well as reported by the Italian Porsche Club. One of its members was close to sharing the same destiny after travelling the range of 60 km behind the wheel of his all-new car but he was able to save it. Right now it’s being thoroughly examined by a group of experts from the local dealer centre headed by the engineers from Zuffenhausen. If what is said is true, Porsche engineers have already pinpointed the problem but don’t have a solution for it yet.
Porsche 911 GT3 is fitted with a 3.8-litre 475-hp engine and it takes it only 3.5 seconds to accelerate up to 100 km/h. The price tag of the supercar starts at 7,063,000 RUB.
