This year WTCC promises to become even more fascinating — new technical regulations will come into force aiming to make the World Touring cars faster and add even more audience appeal to the races. The cars equipped according to 2014 regulations will have a more powerful engine (about 370–380 hp instead of 300 hp like they used to have) and an updated and more aggressive aerodynamic performance. New models have already been presented by Citroën and Honda. Lada and RML — a private team running Chevrolets — are also getting ready with the next generation cars.
Also the list of factory teams increased thus escalating the competition on tracks. During Citroën Racing launch at Versailles the team named its third pilot who is going to represent the group of “Double chevrons” in WTCC next season — the Argentine driver José María López will team up with the French pilots Yvan Muller and Sébastien Loeb.
In 2014 the Citroën company, which had already achieved success at Dakar and World Rally Championship, for the first time ever will have its factory team competing in touring races — the French brand is getting ready for its debut in WTCC. The team from Versailles will enter three Citroën C-Elysée cars in the World Touring Championship — one of its rounds will be held again on Moscow Raceway this summer. Four-time WTCC champion Yvan Muller, nine-time WRC champion Sébastien Loeb and a former Renault F1 racing test driver José María López are going to drive those cars. Also for some of the rounds, including the one in Russia, they are planning to add one more car with the Chinese pilot.
