Viktor Kharitonin, the founder of a large pharmaceutical company Pharmstandard, bought out the majority stake of the Nürburgring Nordschleife complex. As a result, from now on, the Nordschleife is in the hands of two owners — a Russian billionaire and GetSpeed.
Earlier it was reported that Nürburgring owed quite a lot of money to the state bank. Its previous owner, the head of the Capricorn Nürburgring Besitz GmbH Robertino Wild, was not able to climb out of the red. He mortgaged his property, including an art collection, but that didn’t help him either. As a result, two-thirds of the shares of the motorsports complex were sold to the Russian billionaire Viktor Kharitonin for €100 million.
Hopefully, the track preserves its unique character and the change of ownership does not lead to a change in the track’s rental price and one will still be able to drive the Nordschleife for just €27 per lap.
