Daimler AG sold its 4% stake in Tesla for $780 million. Daimler acquired a stake in Tesla in May 2009 and then later sold almost half of that. And now the auto group decided to opt out completely.
Daimler did not comment on its decision to sell its stake in the American manufacturer of electric vehicles. However, the company’s officials have highlighted the fact that nothing changes in their partnership with Tesla in terms of developing components for electric power trains.
At the moment, Tesla supplies batteries for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class compact minivans and tiny Smarts.
