The next-generation Porsche 911 might get a hybrid powertrain. There is still no final decision about the Porsche 911 Hybrid; however, the company’s CEO Matthias Muller gave an encouraging answer to this question when talking to CarAdvice: “There is no reason against it and we will see if we have some reasons to do it”.
The next-gen 911 model is due around 2018 so there is still plenty of time for contemplation. On the other hand, there is a global fight for environment protection going on.
“This hybrid technology has two reasons: one is CO2, but another reason for us for this technology is sportiness. As we have proved in the 918 Spyder … it can work”, says Matthias Muller. Porsche 918 hybrid Spyder scheme — on the picture above.
The automaker plans to equip each of its current models with a hybrid power unit, making the prospects of Porsche 911 hybrid more likely.
