Cadillac to use cameras instead of rear-view mirrors

Cadillac will implement new rear-view technology in its new flagship CT6 sedan.

The new full-size Cadillac sedan will make its debut next year. It will have a body made of steel and aluminium and will use patented GM’s welding technology. It will be “the lightest and most agile car in the class of top-level large luxury sedans”. The new model should rival the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8.

One of its prominent features is the new rear-view technology. The rear-view mirror on the Cadillac CT6 will display streaming video of the vehicle's rear-camera feed. This innovation should improve the driver's ability to view the road.

Cadillac’s engineers are not the first to come up with this idea. For instance, the Audi nanuk Quattro concept lacks side mirror — they are replaced with displays. The Audi R8 e-tron also has a digital rear-view mirror.
