Paris Motor Show is one of the most prestigious car events in the world and moreover more than 100 years ago, in 1898, the Paris Motor Show was the first in the history and it was held annually, except the years of wars. However, in 1976 it was decided to hold it every two years, and since then it alternates with the Frankfurt Motor Show.
But traditionally most part of premieres occurs in France. And there was no exception this year. The most interesting from the whole world is being brought here. Huge exhibition, combining 8 pavilions with the latest automotive and related technologies and innovation, representing the most interesting areas of life connected with cars, attracts a lot of visitors. Every visitor will find something interesting: supercars, hybrids, electric cars, city compact cars, SUVs, concepts and oldtimers or maybe… something new from car fashion. One of the pavilions was dedicated to this.
We will try to focus on the most charismatic and elegant cars of the motor show. None of the world premium manufacturers missed the Paris Motor Show, it is impossible because every company specially prepares something new whether it is a new supercar, or at least a small facelift.
So. Let’s start.
The two most important premieres, in my opinion, belong to Jaguar LandRover Company: the new mid-size sedan, and a brand new member of the Discovery family — DiscoverySport. Here you can find more information about them: Jaguar XE, so we will not make repeats.
However, at their stand there was another unique and very beautiful, charismatic car: Jaguar F-Type Project 7, which was presented this summer. There will be released a limited series of 250 cars of this model.
Lamborghini announced new, highly anticipated concept Asterion. There is no common opinion and someone of spectators was delighted, and someone joked that the Italians have learned to work with a file and sharpened all the edges.
Ferrari presented beautiful Speciale 458 and 458 Speciale Aperta, which is planned as a race car for some GT series. However, it cannot be called a novelty.
One of the main centers of attraction was Mercedes stand, which showed just two new cars — B-Class and new Mercedes-AMG GT, and this is correct name of the car, as both companies developed this car in cooperation. Unfortunately, it was not a premiere in the full sense of the word, because the car was presented to the public earlier in September.
Infiniti showed Q80 Inspiration concept car and Q70 which is produced in series. But frankly speaking, their F1 car at the stand was more attractive.
BMW could not impress with design of a new X6 as well. So an unusual appearance of their SUV remained quite controversial.
But MINI made a good impression. Their Mini Superleggera Vision concept was amazing. A completely different design gives a direct allusion to the history and to the sports cars of 50–60s of the last century. Extended rear part reminds the legendary Austin Healey and other British racing legends. Headlights, of course, have a lot of common with classic Mini and this adds extra charm.
A new cute-looking five-door «MINI» painted in blue which is very popular among rally cars of this brand, added balance to the exhibition on the stand.
Regarding retro-look at Paris Motor Show, it was used not only by MINI: Nissan presented two IDx concepts — civil and racing edition, which also allude to the past, to the 70–80s, when BMW2002 was the icon. Unfortunately, these concepts were not absolutely new for the car fans, as they already were presented at the Tokyo Motor Show.
But Nissan showed its NISMO sports versions of 350Z, Juke and of course, GT-R.
Among the Japanese manufacturers, the very original concept CH-R and a funny small electric car named “iroad” were introduced byToyota.
Lexus introduced an exclusive NX, the design of which was finalized by famous musician William Adams, better known under the Will.I.Am nickname.
By the way, it is interesting that Maserati showed exclusive Ghibli developed jointly with the ErmenegildoZenga designer.
Also incredibly beautiful concept Maserati Alfieri was presented at their stand.
Aston Martin renewed its Rapide S and Vanquish.
Bentley introduced Mulsanne Speed edition.
Rolls Royce had probably the most elegant and expensive exhibition at the Motor Show, presenting the whole product line. But the main eye-stopper was a sky-blue Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection: huge, but surprisingly elegant masterpiece.
Porsche should be definitely mentioned, who presented the new Cayenne SE-Hybrid.
And of course my favorite incredibly beautiful AlfaRomeo — in this case this is a new version of their supercar 4C — 4C Spyder.
Audi attracted spectators with two bright new products on the basis of TT — 5-door concept TT Sportback and TTS roadster.
