Lamborghini has revealed its first plug-in hybrid technology concept car.
Lamborghini Asterion, which is the name of the new concept, is fitted with a 610-hp V10 engine borrowed from the Huracan and three electric motors. As a result, the supercar cranks out a total system output of 910 horsepower.
An interesting fact is that when driven in pure electric mode, the Asterion is the first front-wheel-drive Lamborghini. The petrol-powered engine joins in when reaching the speed of 50 km/h bringing together the all-wheel drive mode. In order to engage a pure electric mode, one might push the button that switches the petrol-powered engine off and allows propelling the car with the help of three electric motors only.
With the V10, the Asterion has a top speed of 320 km/h and jumps to 100 km/h in 3 seconds. However, the Lamborghini Asterion won’t be heading to production. It was announced by Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, at the Paris Motor Show. This concept car is designed to demonstrate new technology, which will later be used in new Lamborghini models.
