An affordable Porsche roadster, which was due to arrive in 2016, has been ruled out.
The new model had to become the most affordable car in the company’s lineup with its price starting at €39,000. It was likely to be based on the Boxster platform.
“You won’t see anything lower than the current Boxster model. We had many discussions about this in the group and the decision was made that the time is not right”, said Porsche Cars North America chief executive Detlev von Platen.
This is not the first car postponed by Porsche. Earlier, the company has put the Pajun project on hold — this vehicle was supposed to sit below the Panamera. Its premiere was set for 2017; however, it was later rescheduled for 2019.
