No plans for next-generation Lexus LFA

Lexus says it has no intention to develop a second-generation LFA sports car. Production of the current version of the LFA coupé was stopped in 2012. It was fitted with a 4.8-litre V10 delivering 560 hp. Only 500 units rolled off the production lines. A second-generation supercar was expected to arrive in a short time.

However, it would take too much time and assets to create a second-generation Lexus LFA in cooperation with BMW. The new model was supposed to use the BMW i8 technology.

All the plans have changed. It has been confirmed by the company’s chief engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi. It’s much more rational to deal with other projects, which haven’t been revealed by Yaguchi so far.
