An updated version of the classic Jaguar Mark 2 built by the company’s chief designer for personal use has been revealed recently. However, quite soon the car will enter production.
“The Mark 2 has always been a beautiful car. Whilst maintaining the purity of the car’s form, I wanted to add a number of modern twists to the design”, said Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum.
When Ian Callum was building the car, there was no thought of making it a production vehicle. However, it has raised so much interest of the brand’s enthusiasts that Jaguar will have to produce more Ian Callum-style Mark 2 models. Sure enough, it will be a limited edition.
As a reminder, the car was built by Classic Motor Cars Limited, which specialises in the modernization of classic Jaguars. Under the bonnet, the Mark 2 carries a modified 4.3-litre engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car’s sporty exterior has been enhanced; it features 17-inch wheels and lower suspension.
