Ferrari 250 GTO, one of the world’s most expensive cars, was put up for sale and called “the world’s most expensive fraud attempt”.
Quite recently, one of the advertisements published on the mobile.de website (an online marketplace for second-hand vehicles) offered the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO at the price of €47.6 million. It was described as one of the first 250 GTOs assembled in Maranello. However, the experts are going to take issue with that.
The company tracks every existing GTO, as there are only 39 of them, and the car in question is not on this list. “I am 100 percent sure about that”, said Massini, the company’s expert. “It’s just a high-quality replica offered at a jaw-dropping price”.
Well, the swindlers got away with their prank this time. But that was a good try. As least, they got on the news.
