Mercedes-Benz are accepting pre-orders for their most powerful S-Class hybrid — the S500 Plug-In Hybrid with an electric-only range of about 30 km.
Well, of course, the price of this plug-in sedan will be higher than that of a standard Mercedes-Benz S500, starting from around €109,000. But that is because it is fitted with a 333-hp turbocharged V6 engine and a 116-hp electric motor.
It was initially supposed to boast of 3–3.2L/100km fuel consumption, however, the German manufacturer has outperformed itself — 2.8L!
What concerns the electric power, there is a slight mishit there. Shortly before hitting the market, the hybrid model was speculated to provide 33 km of emissions free driving. However, those 3 km were left in dreams. During the premiere of the S500 Plug-In Hybrid the only number announced was 30 km. At the same time, the limo will be able to sprint to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. A nice chance to send your driver have a cup of coffee, while you are racing on a highway after a hard working day.
