€1.5 billion investment in the 100-year-old Mercedes plant

Mercedes plan to make a €1.5 billion investment up until 2020 to upgrade their largest car plant in Sindelfingen.

Mercedes plan to make a €1.5 billion investment up until 2020 to upgrade their largest car plant in Sindelfingen.

As a reminder, the company plans to launch production of 12 new S-Class models by 2020. Daimler builds the E-Class, S-Class and CLS at the plant in Sindelfingen, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. More than 22,000 employees work there.

One of the speculations is that the reason of plant modernisation is not only in the fact of production volume increase. They say this vast amount of money is spent due to the revival of the Maybach brand, as this task will be assigned to the experts in Sindelfingen as well.

By the way, quite soon the employees will start production of the new Mercedes GT sports car so there will be no time to get bored.
