Maserati’s exclusiveness should not be brought to the masses

Mass scale is not what Maserati are striving for. The company decided to cap its global sales in order to preserve exclusiveness of their cars.

The Italian manufacturer is placing a production output cap at 75,000 vehicles per year. The only thing is that last year only 15,400 cars were sold and this year there are plans to double this number. By the year 2018, Maserati plan to reach production benchmark of 75,000 exclusive cars — not a single unit more — taking into consideration that the company’s revenue would reach €6 billion in this case.

Well, of course, the company’s premieres should favour this plan. We are expecting the Levante SUV, the Alfieri sports car should arrive next, and then it will be turn for the next-generation Gran Turismo coupé.

Production level will be first increased and then later frozen to avoid any temptations. So that there is no need to sell new vehicles at discount prices and have ready sports cars collect dust at the plants.
