Hybrid Cadillac ELR coupé with the price tag of $75,995 did not catch fancy of the Americans. In order not to let the cars get dusty too much, dealers have to cut down their price, offering up to $13,600 discounts.
The Cadillac ELR coupé was built around modified Chevrolet Volt units. The car’s output reached 207 hp. The coupé weighs 1,846 kg and sprints to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. Unfortunately, the electric-powered Cadillac is lagging behind the Tesla Model S in terms of performance characteristics. One could draw several other parallels, if it weren’t for the fact that there are no other competitors.
There is no call for electric-powered Cadillacs so far. In Maryland, a Cadillac dealer is ready to offer a $13,600 discount on three last ELRs they have in stock. Taking into account the $7,500 federal tax credit for purchasing an eco-friendly vehicle, the total discount would be equal to $21,000. So is there any need to design any more electric eco-friendly cars?
