The racing circuit Moscow Raceway will contend for the possibility to host Formula 1 Grand Prix.
During the press conference devoted to the DTM race, Moscow Raceway Project Director Ekaterina Beltsevich made the following statement: “Not once have we said that Moscow Raceway is the only permanent track in Russia which complies with all Formula 1 requirements”, was reported on R-sport website. “We are located in Moscow, we are attractive for sponsors, we are not short of interest on the side of other racing series. We are definite that we will host Formula 1 sooner or later”.
Right now Sochi holds the contract for running Grand Prix until 2020. However, according to Championat.com, the owner of the Moscow Raceway assumes that everything might change: “Formula 1 will be held in Sochi. The question is for how long. According to various speculations, the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix might be relocated to the Moscow Raceway in a couple of years. We will do whatever depends on us to make it happen as soon as possible”.
