Less than a month passed since Goodwood speed festival where Jaguar F-Type Project 7 was introduced to the public and the company is thinking about new lightweight version of the roadster.
Jaguar engineers are tireless and restless, head of Special Vehicles Operations Paul Newson mentioned that the new car can get 1.6L 4-cylindered engine. As we told earlier the car should become lighter because of carbon using in chassis construction, ultra light wheels and aerodynamic elements.
The most interesting is the following: hybrid supercar was developed under the code C-X75, but in 2012 it was put on hold but the experience can be applied to the new roadster.
In particular it can be equipped with 1.6 L engine with turbo and compressor. Designed in alliance with Cosworth it has an output near 500hp. Road version will have around 300hp.
“We were developing that engine for one million pounds supercar that’s why it is very expensive but it suits well for F-Type. Automotive industry has a trend — small turbocharged engines become more and popular. In future we are going to stop producing 5-litered V8 engines” — said Paul Newson.
Series of Project 7 consists of only 250 cars. The roadster weight is 1585 kg and it reaches 100 kmh in 3.9 seconds. What performance will show new F-Type version we will know later, let’s wait a bit.
