BMW decided to build its car factory in Mexico. The company has already signed a deal with the government; however, it will have to make a $1-billion investment.
Why Mexico? Not just because of spicy Mexican kitchen. The country is part of the NAFTA region (North American Free Trade Agreement) and its tax and customs laws allow cooperating with the United States and Canada freely so there shouldn’t be any pain in the neck.
All in all, BMW decided to invest around $2.2 billion in their plant in Mexico. It will be located in San Luis Potosi. The factory is expected to start production in 2019 and employ 1,500 people.
