One can’t bring back the good old Maybach, however, Mercedes-Benz does believe in promising future of expensive luxurious cars produced under its wing. This time they will try to widen the lineup with the help of a GL-Class SUV.
Mercedes-Benz board member in charge of research and development Dr Thomas Weber made a worrying and at the same time encouraging statement in his interview to Motoring: «First of all it's clear that we stop the old Maybach. But there is still a good brand image linked to Maybach — so stay tuned to what we plan to do with this brand. Of course we see the luxurious SUV segment has huge growing potential, and the answer then is why not? The question is how fast and how parallel we can go with production for something like this. You will see more in the months to come and maybe next year will be the year of our SUV offensive”.
As a reminder, a new version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach is expected to arrive quite soon. The premiere will be 20 cm longer than regular sedans, featuring great technical specifications and luxurious interior. Apart from that, the limousines of the revived brand will boast of several special design elements. The car will be officially revealed in the end of November.
