There is nothing kept secret that will not come to light. Audi Q7 is to become world’s first production vehicle to be equipped with an electrically-driven turbocharger. This information has been confirmed by the head of development of diesel engines at Audi, Ulrich Weiss. However, the release date has not been announced yet.
Back in 2012, Audi fitted an experimental powerplant with an electrically-driven turbo. Then came the Audi RS5 TDI Concept with electric turbo delivering 385 hp and 750 Nm of torque. By the way, Ulrich said that they had displayed the coupé to highlight its performance potential. However, it is still unclear whether it will be added to the company’s lineup just yet. There are more questions than answers as always. Meanwhile, we’ll just have to wait for the new large Q7 SUV.
