Here comes an end to the story of partnership — Renault has taken over Caterham’s stake in the project of reviving the Alpine brand. Buying out the 50% share is a lot. From now on Caterham’s name will be “erased” from the venture, while the slippers will be returned by mail.
There was no word regarding the reason of such drastic solution, however, it is another notable confirmation of the end of cooperation between Renault and Caterham. As a reminder, first Alpine boasting of a 300-hp engine is scheduled to arrive in 2016. The work on car’s design has been finished just recently.
As the companies have been working shoulder-to-shoulder for quite a long time, several elements developed under cooperation will be used in Caterham’s sports cars. But only in case Caterham finds financial support, as quite recently there were speculations about the company going on sale, although later this information was disproved.
