Italian supercar Ferrari 458 Italia will get a 100-hp increase by next year. New version of the famous model will have an additional letter in its name, while its engine will become turbocharged. According to preliminary information, the updated Ferrari 458 Italia will be called either the 458M or the 458T.
The Italian carmaker keeps technical details of the upcoming upgrade under wraps. However, the experts from the CAR magazine speculate that it would be fitted with a 3.8-litre turbocharged V8 engine delivering 670 hp. If this information is confirmed, the renovated Italia will become 108-hp more powerful than the current model, which sprints to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
Earlier Ferrari has unveiled its five-year production plan. The company plans to reveal one premiere per year with the life cycle of each model equal to 4 years. After that, each model will get a special M modification, which will be produced for another 4 years. The implementation of this plan kicks off with the 458 Italia model.
Ferrari calls premieres not only all-new models, but also special versions of the already-existing ones. For instance, the company promises to reveal a special modification of the LaFerrari hypercar next year. However, according to the company’s engineers, it’s very difficult to squeeze out even more power from the hybrid powerplant and that is why the car’s performance will be improved by means of upgrading the body’s aerodynamics.
