The car is scheduled to debut this autumn at the Paris Auto Show. For the affordable XE model and its “relatives”, which are due to arrive a bit later, the British company has developed an entirely new lineup of 4-cylinder engines, which will be assembled at the company’s brand new engine plant. Jaguar plans to embrace a wide audience and that is why the range of new motors is very diverse. Top-of-the-line XE model will be fitted with a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine.
Standard XE model belongs to the D segment with BMW 3 series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Audi A4 dominating there now. All of them feature various boosted versions with engines delivering up to 450–500 hp. As Jaguar claims that all of its cars have a sport DNA, the company could not leave this fact out of account. No wonder journalists started talking about the arrival of a similar special version of the British sedan.
Journalists from the British magazine Auto Express assume that this car would have a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 delivering 542 hp under its bonnet, as this type of powerplant is used in the most expensive and fastest Jaguar F-Type. The hot version of the sedan, potentially called the XER-S, will be able to accelerate to 300 km/h with the help of this motor. The new boosted Jaguar is expected to make its debut in 2016.
