Future per unit

Volkswagen has officially sold its first unit of the XL1 hybrid. Although the production model was introduced more than a year ago (last winter at the Geneva Motor Show), first car has officially been delivered to a customer only now at the price of $150,000.

Volkswagen has officially sold its first unit of the XL1 hybrid. Although the production model was introduced more than a year ago (last winter at the Geneva Motor Show), first car has officially been delivered to a customer only now at the price of $150,000.

An unknown customer living in Germany has acquired the first unit. There is no information regarding either the gender or profession of the first customer. All we know is that he has bought a famous car with unknown trim level. But what we do know is that the model in question has an onyx white exterior and dark interior design. It seems easier to buy a stealth aircraft.

What type of spacecraft of the future is it? It’s a Volkswagen XL1. It features a diesel-electric powerplant, which provides fuel consumption of less than one litre per 100 km. Its “heart” consists of an 800-cc two-cylinder diesel engine producing 48 hp and 37-hp electric motor. It has a traditional seven-speed DSG transmission.

It can travel up to 50 kilometres in pure electric mode. However, the major XL1’s trump card is hybrid mode. With its fuel consumption of 0.9 litres per 100 kilometres, it produces CO2 emissions of 24 g/km.

But let’s not leave aside the question of its performance. The XL1 sprints to 100 km/h in 12.7 seconds and reaches top speed of 160 km/h.
