Boxster, Cayman, and Cayenne will soon be produced with the new lineup of four-cylinder boxer engines. As reported by the CAR magazine, new Porsche’s engines will be turbocharged and fitted with the new-generation direct injection.
The smallest in the lineup is a 1.6-litre engine producing 210 hp. Most probably, it will be used in the new “affordable” roadster. Although it does not rule out the possibility that these engines might go straight to VW’s and Audi’s production lines.
However, the heftier units (2.0-litre 290-hp and 2.5-litre 365-hp motors) have been confirmed by the company meaning that not all premieres are wrapped in mystery. According to CAR’s sources, the new engines will be coupled with six-speed manual or seven-speed semi-automatic dual-clutch PDK transmission.
