The French company Genty has been designing hypercars for many years now. Currently it has 25 projects under its belt. Now there is news about the new mid-engined hypercar Akylone, which is going to be boosted up to 1,200 hp!
The company has been designing this car since 2011. Initially it was supposed to feature a 4.8-litre V8 engine produced by the company itself. But now they decided to up the bar and fit the new car with a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine producing 1,000–1,200 hp and 1,200 Nm of torque. However, these technical specifications might be used as an advertising tool only. The engineers plan to equip the vehicle with a six-speed sequential gearbox. The weight of the new Akylone is a mere 1,100 kg. It will be able to hit 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, 200 km/h in 7.2 seconds, 300 km/h in 14 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited at 350 km/h.
The Akylone has been redesigned again — it now has the new rear bumper, new tailpipe design, and LED rear taillights. The interior has also been changed. But when will the hypercar arrive? It exists only as drawings and calculations used by Frederic Genty to camp on the doorsteps of businessmen from China, Qatar, USA, and Russia so that they could help in funding and building the concept. Then he’ll have little left to do, just to produce a limited edition of 25 hypercars.
