No panic! Formula 1 Grand Prix in Sochi is not cancelled

There have been too many talks about possible cancellation of the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix lately. Breathe out, ladies and gentlemen! Sergey Vorobyev, the promoter of the race, made his opinion known — everything runs to plan, there are no force-majeure conditions. And definitely no cancellations.

These talks emerged after a statement made by Richard Ottaway, chairman of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee, that the race in Sochi might be cancelled due to sanctions introduced against the Russian Federation. In a sign of sanctions, there are not so many people left who haven’t made any loud statements about motorsports in particular.

“Due to several statements about the risk of cancellation of the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix I would like to state that neither reschedule, nor cancellation of the race are subject to discussion. We are getting ready for October 12, 2014. We are on schedule with works on track construction and other preparations. Medical centre and buildings for the teams are fully ready. Right now the track is being fitted with concrete barriers. Finishing work and equipment installation are now conducted in the main audience stand and the race control building”, said Sergey Vorobyev.

So quite soon we will able to purchase tickets for the Grand Prix in Sochi, everything is just about ready.
