Hydrogen “bomb” from Aston Martin

All Aston Martin “weapons” will be used for environmental protection. The engineers are now developing cars fitted with hydrogen powerplant. Right now they are getting ready to launch the Hybrid Hydrogen Rapide S sports car, which is aimed to show that sports cars can be both very fast and … producing zero CO2 emissions. Aston Martin is going to enter such cars in the 24 Hours Nürburgring.

What makes us wonder is what has made the company’s chiefs change their minds? They used to think about making their cars more powerful, but now the major company’s objective is to save the nature.

Rapide will have a hydrogen twin-turbocharged V12 under its bonnet. The engine can run on petrol, hydrogen or a combination of both. According to uincar.ru, carbon fibre tanks will be holding 3.5 kg of hydrogen. There is no word about the car’s performance yet.

We cannot but hope that in its fight for environmental protection Aston Martin will be able to secure not only verbal victory, but also a victory in the legendary 24 Hours Nürburgring race.
