Renault plans to set the new speed record among front-wheel drive cars on the legendary track at Nürburgring! Renault Megane RS is expected to go one lap in less than 7 min 58.4 sec. This was the time demonstrated by Seat Leon Cupra last year.
Seat claimed this car to be the most powerful production vehicle in its history. Well, it definitely is, however, the car was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 sport tyres considered to be optional equipment not included in standard specs. Therefore, there were many arguments around this issue.
As reported by autonews.ru, the new record will be set at the Nordschleife this June. There is no word yet which tyres would be chosen for the Megane RS to conquer the track nicknamed “the Green Hell”. The only information available so far is the teaser of the Renault Megane RS special edition published with the #UNDER8 hashtag.
The price of the 250-hp car fitted with manual transmission starts at 1,217,000 RUB (approx. €24,500) in Russia.
