The ambitious project “Cortege” gains momentum. As we have recently reported, its development under the auspice of the liquidated Russian supercar manufacturer Marussia has been ceased. But as they say, the throne is never vacant. The German company Porsche has joined the Cortege project.

Initially, the role of Porsche amounted to expert evaluation of the entire process. Now the company plans to make a more substantial contribution in car manufacturing for the Russian government officials. According to RIA Novosti, with the reference to Russia´s Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov, the German company will assist in adjusting production of the developed model.

As reported by the bfm.ru, the government has allocated 3.6 billion RUB (approx. €73 million) to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The SUV is going to be assembled at the UAZ factory so far. Negotiations regarding the assembly of minivans are conducted with Sollers. Concept cars should arrive next year while the production is due to be launched in 2018. It was expected that around 24 billion RUB (approx. €486 million) would be allocated for the Russian project Cortege.

The project is going to be so big that, apparently, the chiefs of Cortege are trying to be on the safe side and decided that it would be insufficient to engage only Russian specialists. As they say, measure thrice and Cortege once.
