BMW increases production volume of i3 electric cars

The production level of the BMW i3 electric cars at the factory in Leipzig was increased from 70 to 100 vehicles a day due to huge demand for the electric premiere in Europe which had exceeded all expectations of the company’s management. European customers stand in lines to purchase the i3 model while there is a great number of accumulated pre-orders.

European customers stand in lines to purchase the i3 model while there is a great number of accumulated pre-orders.

However, the popularity of the Bavarian feat of engineering has not come as a surprise. In October 2013, even before the launch of production of the i3 model, there were 8,000 pre-orders. And that was much more than had been forecast by the model’s engineers. The initial sales plan developed by the BMW’s marketing experts was aimed at 10,000 vehicles for the year of 2014.

More than 5,000 vehicles were assembled within four months of i3’s production. The price of the car in Europe starts at €35,000.
