In February 2013, Chevrolet revealed a high-performance SS sedan. The car was fitted with 6.2-litre V8 used in previous-generation Corvette. It delivers 420 hp and 562 Nm of torque. The only transmission option was a six-speed automatic. It takes the SS model about 5 seconds to accelerate to 96 km/h.
As reported by motor.ru, 9 months after the model’s debut, John Fitzpatrick, marketing manager for Chevrolet performance cars, said that he did not rule out the possibility of producing a new modification of the SS model equipped with a more powerful engine. He correlated the launch of the modified version of the sedan with the sales volume of the standard version.
Meanwhile, Chevrolet claimed a changed in the trim level of the high-performance SS sedan. According to Motor Trend, starting from this summer the customers would be able to opt for a six-speed manual gearbox and adaptive suspension Magnetic Ride Control used in the Cadillac ATS coupé and Chevrolet Corvette Stingray supercar.
Chevrolet SS is not officially sold in Russia. The price of the model offered in standard trim level is $43,475 in the USA.
The manufacturer states that the new car is meant to be the rival of the BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG.
