No name change for Formula 1 Marussia Team

It was suspected that after the shutdown of Marussia Motors the similarly-named Formula 1 team could change its name. However, everything remains the same. In spite of the fact that right now the team is taking the penultimate position in Constructors' Championship, Tracy Novak, PR & Communications Director at Marussia F1 Team, stated that the racing team is not economically dependent on the Russian carmaker.

It was suspected that after the shutdown of Marussia Motors the similarly-named Formula 1 team could change its name. However, everything remains the same. So the team is not going to be put up for sale. “We are not going to change anything, including the name of the team”, says Marussia F1 Team's sporting boss Graeme Lowdon according to Press Association. “The whole Marussia concept goes beyond a car business and we don’t have any information that we should worry about something. Financially we're fine — or as much as a Formula One team can be. Contrary to some reports, we've never been owned by the car company. We've had a common shareholder in Andrey Cheglakov, a shareholder in the car company and a major shareholder in the F1 team. Although there is obviously a marketing link, beyond that there is no direct impact on us at all”.

But it’s still an open question of how long the team is going to exist. Anyway, Formula 1 is going through hard times right now making it also difficult for many F1 teams.
