An Audi TT Hybrid SUV concept was revealed at the Beijing Motor Show. It is a potential rival to Porsche Macan, Range Rover Evoque, and BMW X4. As stated by the manufacturer, total capacity of the crossover is equal to 408 hp.

As reported by motor.ru, the powerplant consists of a 2-litre petrol-powered turbocharged V4 delivering 292 hp coupled with a 40-kW electric motor (around 55 hp) and another 85-kW (115 hp) electric motor mounted on the rear axle. It also comprises a lithium-ion battery which stores up to 12 kWh of energy. In addition to that, a disc-shaped electric motor is integrated into the six-speed e‑S Tronic dual-clutch transmission.

Three driving modes are available: in the EV Mode the focus is on the rear axle electric motor; in the Hybrid Mode both the combustion engine and front axle electric motor, which works as a generator, are activated; in the Sport mode the full system output is made available to the driver. The SUV sprints to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and its top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h.

The premiere “wears” 21-inch aluminium wheels and 255/40 tyres; it is fitted with the Matrix LED headlights. Charging options include plugging-in via a standard electrical outlet but the crossover also features Wireless Charging technology for contactless inductive charging (they used a pair of coils integrated into the car and the parking spot and alternating current). All you need is to park the car on a specially equipped parking lot and the charging commences automatically.

The car will be able to travel 50 km at the speed of 130 km/h using the electric power alone. In Hybrid mode the range for the car is up to 880 kilometres while the fuel consumption rate is 1.9L per 100 km. There is no word when the car might go into production yet, so meanwhile the competition with Porsche and BMW is just contemplated.
