Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with a power-folding roof will be revealed at the New York Motor Show. It will become the fastest convertible in Chevrolet’s history. It will feature 6.2-litre supercharged V8 LT4 engine producing at least 625 hp and a choice of seven-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions.
According to manufacturer, in spite of convertible's folding roof, the car is not heavier than the hardtop, though the aluminium structure is 20 percent stiffer than the one of the Z06 coupé. The roof can be folded at the speed of 50 km/h. “Until recently it was not possible to create a lightweight, open-roof structure strong enough to cope with the braking, cornering, and acceleration of Corvette’s top performance models,” said Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter.
The convertible will feature the same upgrades as the coupé including carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres and adjustable aerodynamic body kit elements.
