Land Rover decided to make a surprise for the future owners of the new Discovery. The prototype will use the new Transparent Bonnet technology which helps to create an illusion that the SUV’s bonnet is actually “see-through”. We will not have to wait long for the new technology to arrive as Land Rover Discovery Vision will be revealed at the New York Motor Show on April 16.
According to auto.vesti.ru, Land Rover assumes the new technology would help the drivers when manoeuvring in restricted spaces and also assist them in the toughest off-road conditions. It will be possible with the help of head-up display. Although the idea of making the engine transparent could have been rather ground-breaking. But the implementation is more down-to-earth: cameras located in the car’s grille feed images to a projection display built in the windshield. The augmented reality view of the ground beneath the car should help monitoring the angle and position of the wheels.
As noted by the manufacturer, the new generation of Discovery will reflect “the idea of the future generation of premium SUVs” also helping the driver feel like a real superhero from comics. Just admit that the “see-through bonnet” option is really tempting.
