Journalists from AutoBild conducted performance tests of two powerful sports cars in their drop-top versions: McLaren MP4–12C Spider vs. Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. Both cars are fitted with 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged engines but they are still a bit different. Porsche is equipped with a six-cylinder engine producing 560 hp and 750 Nm of torque while McLaren hides a V8 delivering 625 hp and 600 Nm of torque under its bonnet. MP4–12C was better in acceleration performance tests; however, in 0–100 km/h sprint Turbo S did not leave any chances to McLaren. The latter started demonstrating its advantage in weight and power only after 200 km/h. Both cars had almost equal results in deceleration tests but Turbo S showed better results on the Sachsenring lap in spite of its big weight and less horsepower.
